Dairy Rations with Limited Forage

Forage is in very short supply this year due to our poor hay production. Normally, rations are designed to maximize forage use, but these rations are designed to use minimum forage and still maintain rumen health and cow productivity.

Cows need minimum amounts of roughage and extensive use of by-products have been made in these rations in an attempt to keep proper rumen function.

The following rations are presented as guidelines for consideration. Forages need to be tested and rations balanced for individual situations. All rations are balanced for 50 pounds of milk.
